On Monday, March 8, 2010 a representative from Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility made the following statement at the Berkley Board of Education meeting.
Good evening, my name is Martin Klemet. I am here to represent the views of the Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility. The following is the Mission Statement of Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility:
The Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility is a community based organization promoting the transparency and fiscal responsibility of the Berkley School District. Through a belief that the School District represent us, its citizens, we look forward to participate in the democratic right given to all citizens to have a voice, and work to meet challenges of the School District today and in the future.
The Ballot Committee was formed in December 2009 because of several concerns we had with the proposed 2010 School Bond.
From a core group of twenty five citizens from Berkley, Huntington Woods and Oak Park we obtained support from a large contingency of voters in the school district. We had 825 lawn signs and received email and financial support from a large number of additional citizens that did not choose to place a sign.
After the election we continue to get emails and phone calls from supporters asking us to continue to work with the Berkley School District in addressing the needs of school facilities.
We urge the School Board to place a member of our organization on the Facilities Committee and other committees or study groups relating to addressing the needs of Berkley School facilities
